FAIRE LE MUR explore la frontière poreuse entre documentaire et fiction à travers les trajectoires entremêlées de trois hommes nés au Maroc : un cinéaste et deux de ses acteurs. À travers des extraits de films et des rencontres au présent, de Casablanca à Paris en passant par Madrid, ils partagent des souvenirs d'enfance, de migration et de cinéma.

Lorsque la pandémie de Covid-19 contraint le cinéaste à rester au Maroc, le pays qu'il avait quitté des décennies plus tôt, il se retrouve seul avec sa caméra, quelques chats errants et une chienne nommée Rosa. Dans cette solitude, il interroge son parcours et cherche de nouvelles manières de réinventer la fiction et de survivre en tant que cinéaste : il passe devant la caméra.

Biographie

Mohamed est né au Maroc. Destiné à l'échec dans ses études scientifiques, une main invisible l'oriente vers la littérature. En 1983, il part en France pour poursuivre ses études. Un nouvel échec survient, et il se réfugie alors en Italie où il exerce divers métiers. Après avoir vécu dans plusieurs villes, il s'installe finalement à Bologne, où il suit une formation en cinéma.

THE FREE-RIDERS explores the porous boundary between documentary and fiction through the intertwined trajectories of three men born in Morocco: a filmmaker and two of his actors. Through film excerpts and present-day encounters, from Casablanca to Paris and Madrid, they share memories of childhood, migration, and cinema.

When the Covid-19 pandemic forces the filmmaker to remain in Morocco, the country he left decades earlier, he finds himself alone with his camera, a few stray cats, and a dog named Rosa. In this solitude, he reflects on his journey and seeks new ways to reinvent fiction and survive as a filmmaker: he steps in front of the camera.

Biography

Mohamed was born in Morocco. Destined for failure in his scientific studies, a hidden hand nudges him towards literature. In 1983, he goes to France for studies. Another setback occurs, and he flees to Italy where he tries out various jobs. After living in multiple cities, he settles in Bologna, where he undergoes his film education.
